Trapped Dog, Man Rescued In Fairfield County

A frisky dog chasing a swan ended up having to be saved, along with a man, by members of the Shelton Fire Department.

The rescue took place Saturday morning after the dog chased after a swan, and the man chasing the dog became trapped in muddy waters. Crews from Huntington Fire Company 3 Crews had to trek through a swamp to reach both who were stuck on a muddy strip of land in the middle of the water.

Firefighters used a canoe and ropes to pull the dog, and man, to safety.

“Great work by everyone on the scene as everyone got out safely,” the Huntington Fire Company said in a Facebook post.
